Baby Buddha

08.28.10

I’m willing to offer up these two bits of video to the makers of cat prozac, because it’s an amazing testimonial to the powers of pharmaceuticals. Yes, we medicate the cat. Don’t judge. She absolutely loathes the baby and we’re past the 30 day return policy on BeeBee. So we had a choice between letting [...]

The last time I was at the beach I was mega preggars, round and waddling, as full of myself as I was of baby because god I did love being pregnant. Over a year later, we finally managed to mesh schedules with weather and took the Baby Buddha on her first trip to the beach.

7.22.10

Baby Buddha completed her first trip around the sun on July 22. Happy Birthday, Beebee. It’s been the longest, fastest year of my life. Crazy highs and lows. Harder than I ever anticipated, more gratifying than I could have ever hoped. I’m still so very tired…it’s taboo to even mention “at her age”, but she [...]

6.15.10-7.05.10

Happy belated birthday, America. I made this dinner plate sized cake for you! We’re just a few weeks away from Baby Buddha’s first birthday. Do you feel dizzy? Is the room spinning? I need to sit down. In the meantime, I’m reviewing our catalog of baby pictures and it turns out it doesn’t even take [...]

5.28.10-6.14.10

We went to a wedding. A grown-up wedding. A baby-free wedding. OH my! The bride wore red. I wish I had a picture of her dress. I’m not even a dress girl but this dress…wow. Speaking of red, The Man’s tomatoes have come in with a vengeance. So our meals have a running theme. Between [...]

Baby Buddha is now 10 months old. I’ll give you a moment to absorb that reality. Or myself. Oh, I feel dizzy. In other news, is there anything more fantastic than summer salads? The Man’s tomatoes and cucumbers are starting to come in and they are beautiful, fresh and nearly as sweet as candy. Except [...]

1.19.10-2.14.10

Baby Buddha’s first food was apple. Followed now by banana, sweet potato, butternut squash, and carrot. She has the start of two teeth on the bottom, which she is handling with grace.  She’s developed a knee scoot sort of pre-crawl. It mostly sends her backwards in a circle, looks a little like “the worm”…but she [...]

01.01.10-01.18.10

First, holy crap. It’s 2010. Second, well okay, that’s really all I’ve got, it’s 2010. Ten years ago I was in San Francisco, surviving the devastatingly epic over-sell of Y2K. This year I’m raising a kidlet in the Dirty Dirty, still waiting on Armageddon. We started 2010 off with black eyed peas and ice on [...]

12.21.09-12.31.09

I’m time traveling a little bit in the date span here. It’s only the 28th but I can pretty much guarantee I won’t be updating again before 2010 so let’s just wrap 2009 up here and now. I was pregnant for a little more than half of this year, and now I’ve been a mom [...]

12.03.09-12.18.09

We had a great, looming pecan tree in the backyard. It was only half-living, the other half dust-filled and as delicate as lace. Its far reaching branches posed a constant threat to our roof and occasional disruption to our electricity. So just recently, we said good-bye, scary zombie pecan tree. Besides how adept they were [...]
